Kenya is home of the original small and beautiful Kazuri. Fired and hand-painted by Kenyan women, the jewellery combines sophisticated design with traditional craftsmanship to reflect the true beauty of Africa.

Kazuri was set up over 30 years ago and now employs over 300 local women in the village of Karen, a few miles outside of Nairobi in Kenya. The women are given free transport to and from work, and a few of them make beads from home as well.

Ting Ting Ceramic Bead Necklace

This beautiful Ting ting ceramic bead necklace is made using round, highly polished beads, each one approximately 2cm in diameter.

Made by Kazuri Beads in Kenya. Kazuri, which means small and beautiful in Swahili, employs over 300 local women.

Every bead is shaped and painted by hand and then kiln-fired once, glazed and fired again before being strung by hand.

Many pieces take on the quirks and trademarks of the individuals who shape the beads, paint them or string them, giving them soul as well as beauty.
